I love having a fun session with my Gel Plates, and sometimes end up with sooo many prints! That’s a good thing though. I’m always up for a challenge and I love to challenge myself with new ways of using up those prints!! A little while ago, I made some fun, Mixed Media Bookmarks, with off cuts of some of my favourite gel prints, so I decided to do it again and share my latest bookmarks with you all! Enjoy…

Mixed Media Bookmarks

What you will need:

1st – grab a handful, (not too many or you won’t be able to choose 😊), of your favourite gel prints or other mixed media backgrounds. My backgrounds are mostly on white cardstock that is 250gsm.
2nd – Choose the sections of the prints you like and cut them into strips: (2” x 5 ¾”).
Next, cut some coordinating cardstock, (great way to use up scraps), to measure: (2 ¼” x 5 ¾”).

For the Gel Print strips, grab some stamps, stencils or any mark making, found objects from home.
Sort through all your die cuts, spare stamped images or stamp out some chosen images onto white card and colour with Art Markers, Watercolours or whatever!! Fussy cut them when dry. Also gather some great word or quote stickers, or stamp some onto spare card.

What’s next:

Add some stamping or stencil layers to the Mixed Media Backgrounds, using ink or paint.

Attach these strips to the cardstock strips and use a single hole punch to add a hole at the top for ribbon (approx. 1cm from the top). I used some reinforcement rings and coloured them with Alcohol Markers, to cover the hole, but you could make your own from coloured card, with punches.

Grab some craft glue, (I used Multi Medium Matt), and magic mount and adhere your stamped embellishments. I also added a little cheesecloth, that I had coloured black, underneath a few of mine.

Add your word stickers and a length of ribbon and finish off with a cute little tassel or other decoration. 😊

Gift to a friend or family member, they are easy to pop in the mail!

Hopefully I have inspired you to give these little mixed media bookmarks a go. You can use any random scraps, it doesn’t have to be gel prints. I realised, I have one watercolour background thrown in there amongst these.

Nearly all of the products used for these bookmarks, have been made using products from Kaszazz. You can head over to my web store here, if you wish to check them out 🙂

I would love to see what you make. Don’t forget to share over in my Facebook Community Group here:
